Matakohe Architecture + Urbanism is a kaupapa Māori multidisciplinary design practice based in Whangārei, New Zealand. Led by Director and Architectural & Urban Designer Jade Kake, the team at Matakohe is dedicated to working with Māori organizations and mana whenua groups to express their cultural values and narratives through the design of their physical environments.

With a focus on marae, papakāinga, and civic projects, Matakohe is actively involved in supporting the re-establishment and development of papakāinga within the Whangārei district. They also work on public space, civic, commercial, and education projects within the city.

Matakohe aspires to grow into a mid-size kaupapa Māori design practice, attracting a team of skilled hapū kaimahi who contribute their technical and cultural skills in service of their own whānau, hapū, and iwi.
