About MATAR eV
MATAR e. V. (Martial Arts Training and Repetition) is a martial arts club founded in 2007 and based in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
Training takes place in the gym at Thalia Grundschule on Alt-Stralau. The club offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Gi and No-Gi formats, Muay Thai, Ninjutsu, Capoeira, and grappling. Classes cover fundamentals and more advanced techniques, welcoming beginners, returning participants, and experienced practitioners.
Grappling sessions develop throws, joint locks, chokes, ground positions, and defense, alongside coordination, strength, and conditioning; sparring is a regular part of training, and members have opportunities to compete. The weekly schedule includes classes on weekdays and Saturday, with sessions for different martial arts and beginner-level BJJ. Newcomers can attend up to three free trial sessions by registering in advance.
Membership includes a one-time joining fee and monthly contribution, with reduced rates for eligible groups and a supporter option. MATAR also provides training updates through a newsletter, including schedule changes, attendance links, and event information. Its instructors bring experience across BJJ, Muay Thai, Ninjutsu, Capoeira, Judo, and Karate
