About MATES in Construction NZ
MATES in Construction New Zealand is a brand that focuses on suicide prevention in the construction industry. With nearly one person lost to suicide every week in our industry, it is clear that this is everyone's business. MATES aims to build and strengthen workplace communities to create a positive environment that supports the well-being of our people.
This community-based approach goes beyond the workplace and into our everyday lives. Through on-site training, MATES engages with workers and provides case management support to those identified as at risk, connecting them to professional help. Our Field Officers are skilled in suicide intervention and have experience in the Building and Construction Industry, making it easy for them to connect with workers on site.
