Gaffney Educational Consulting, LLC, known as MathGEC, is an educational consulting firm founded by Ann M. Gaffney and based in Ashland, Oregon. The name “MathGEC,” pronounced “Math Geek,” reflects the firm’s focus on mathematics education. Gaffney is an experienced educator and mathematics professional development provider whose background includes 20 years teaching middle school mathematics and science, four years as an assistant principal focused on curriculum and instruction, and current work in educational technology supporting a K–6 mathematics program. She holds K–12 teaching certifications in mathematics and science and a doctorate in educational leadership and learning from Rivier University.

MathGEC offers professional development opportunities for teachers, including support in understanding elementary mathematics. Its work addresses mathematics, science, STEM, and other educational topics relevant to teachers, students, and schools. Gaffney has presented at local, regional, national, and international conferences, and her doctoral research explored teachers’ beliefs about effective mathematics lessons and how content-focused professional development may influence those beliefs.
