Mathiwos Wondu - YeEthiopia Cancer Society (MWECS) is a respected and trusted non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by cancer in Ethiopia. The society was established by the parents of Mathiwos, who tragically lost his battle with cancer at a young age. Their mission is to spare other families from the hopelessness and despair that comes with a child's cancer diagnosis.

Initially focusing on pediatric cancer patients, MWECS has since expanded its efforts to include women's cancers such as cervical and breast cancer. They are also actively working on major cancer risk factors like tobacco use. With a General Assembly and a Board of Directors consisting of dedicated members, MWECS provides strategic leadership and decision-making for the organization.

The society offers a range of services and support to cancer patients, including financial assistance for transportation, medicines, and diagnostic laboratory services. They also provide food support and education for patients and their caregivers during treatment. With a team of dedicated staff members and volunteers, MWECS continues to make a significant impact in the lives of over 360 cancer patients and their families.
