Petr Matoušek Luthier

Petr Matoušek is a Czech luthier who hand-builds concert classical guitars in the Czech Republic. Each instrument is made individually, from selecting premium tonewoods to applying its traditional shellac finish, with attention to response, tonal color, projection and playing comfort. The collection centers on two models: Concert Master, with a traditional solid-wood top, and Concert Master Double Top, featuring a double top of European spruce or cedar.

Both are built with Indian rosewood, a raised ebony fingerboard and handcrafted details, and can be tailored to the player’s preferences. Options include different woods for the back and sides, such as Brazilian rosewood, ziricote and Indian rosewood, subject to availability. Matoušek also presents distinctive instruments, including an eight-string Double Top and anniversary editions.

His guitars are played by concert performers and educators internationally, and the site features player testimonials and audio examples.
