Matriarca is the brand and commercial platform of COMAR, a cooperative supported by a large network of Indigenous women artisans in Argentina. Bringing together women from Wichí, Pilagá, Qom, Qomle’ec and Kolla communities, the network draws on ancestral knowledge passed down through generations. Its collection includes home décor, clothing and accessories, with pieces made from native chaguar and carandillo fibers, as well as wool from sheep and llamas raised within the communities.
Natural dyes made from roots, bark, fruits and leaves of the native forest give the products their colors. Each handcrafted piece reflects a distinct story and heritage, and the brand describes its production as fully sustainable. Matriarca works to preserve traditional practices while supporting women’s economic autonomy and the conservation of the forest.
Its wider network includes 30 associations and 2,600 women across four Argentine provinces. With more than ten years of commercial activity, Matriarca has opened stores in Argentina and has an international presence in Italy, France, Japan and the United States
