About Matsentralen Norge
Matsentralen Norge is a network of food banks that connects surplus food from the food industry with nonprofit organizations that assist those in need. Our mission is two-fold: to help the food industry reduce food waste and to help nonprofit organizations alleviate poverty. As part of our work, we distribute food to over 480 nonprofit organizations across Norway, ensuring that it reaches those who need it the most.
By collaborating with national and local organizations, such as Frelsesarmeen and Osterøyhjelpen, we not only provide meals or grocery bags but also offer various support services, such as financial education and guidance for education and employment. Through our partnership with the food industry, we act as a safety net to rescue surplus food from becoming food waste, contributing to a sustainable food system and supporting several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
