Maxime Borry

Maxime Borry, PhD, is a bioinformatics scientist who develops statistical tools and computational workflows to turn complex biological data into scalable, reproducible, and actionable results. His work spans prokaryotic, eukaryotic, and human systems, with experience in ancient DNA metagenomics, microbiome research, and computational oncology. He has worked with research institutes including the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, and TRON – Translational Oncology. His recent work includes analyzing cancer genomics and sequencing data for personalized cancer vaccine research, alongside earlier research on ancient fermentation microbiomes and archaeological DNA.

Borry’s work includes building and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines and software, conducting metagenomic and multi-omics analyses, and developing tools for taxonomic profiling, ancient DNA authentication, and genome reconstruction. His publications include studies and software projects such as PyDamage, TAXPASTA, AMDirT, and nf-core pipelines. With academic training in bioinformatics, ecology, environmental sciences, and life sciences, he brings an interdisciplinary perspective to biological data analysis.
