Rescue the Planet is an environmental organization working to protect the Great Maya Forest across Guatemala, Mexico, and Belize. This highly biodiverse landscape spans more than 5.7 million hectares and provides habitat for species including jaguars, tapirs, and the Scarlet Macaw. The organization highlights the pressures facing the forest and the threatened northern subspecies of Scarlet Macaw, with about 500 individuals remaining in the wild.

Its work combines conservation, community engagement, education, and research. Through Educate to Protect, it brings environmental learning to schools and universities. Guardians of the Forest supports young people living in forest communities, helping them develop as local environmental leaders and participate in biodiversity monitoring. The Forest Can’t Wait campaign uses media, social platforms, and partnerships to raise awareness and encourage action. Rescue the Planet is also developing a monitoring system to inform Scarlet Macaw protection. It supports stronger value for forest products as a way to benefit community livelihoods and conservation.
