The MAY-B Foundation, Inc. is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting African-American scholars who have lost a parent or guardian. Founded in memory of Mable Alice Young Beasley, an inspirational health and physical education teacher who died of metastatic breast cancer in 2012, the organization builds on her belief in the power of education and encouragement. As a college student, Mable faced financial hardship after her father’s death, but support from others helped her continue her studies and earn a degree.
The foundation’s central program is a scholarship that provides financial and emotional resources to eligible scholars. Its approach is guided by the goals of help, hope, and healing, aiming to support students as they pursue education and move forward after loss. The MAY-B Foundation also invites the community to get involved, take part in its events, and make donations. It is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and contributions are tax-deductible.
