mc2h foundation is an independent Swiss foundation that supports communities in West Africa to drive positive change in children’s education. At mc2h, we recognise that traditional, top-down development and philanthropic models have too often failed to create lasting change, reinforcing dependency rather than strengthening local systems. That is why we take a different approach. We practise progressive, trust-based philanthropy — funding locally led organisations with unrestricted, multi-year support, and backing smaller, community-rooted groups that are often overlooked but deeply trusted and effective. We focus not only on children’s education outcomes, but on strengthening the wider ecosystems that make learning possible, from inclusion to cultural relevance and community ownership. We believe sustainable education outcomes are achieved when when communities lead the change. Our commitment to Community-Led Development (CLD) is not rhetorical — it is foundational. We believe lasting education gains happen when communities shape their own solutions, and hold systems accountable. We are therefore committed to challenging extractive, top-down models and investing in approaches that build agency, ownership, and long-term local capacity. This requires courage, persistence, and partners who are willing to go beyond conventional programme delivery.
