The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education, established in 1988 by McGraw-Hill, honors exceptional leaders in education dedicated to making a lasting impact on students globally. Celebrating over 100 winners, the Prize stands as a prestigious acknowledgment of individuals across various sectors—from educators to legislators—who elevate educational standards and innovative practices. In 2020, the Prize partnered with the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, creating a platform for yearlong programming that disseminates insights and collaborative opportunities among McGraw Prize winners and educators worldwide.

The Prize recognizes excellence in three categories: Pre-K–12 Education, Higher Education, and Lifelong Learning, with each recipient awarded a $50,000 grant and a unique sculpture by artist Gary Traczyk. The McGraw Prize exemplifies commitment to education, community enrichment, and the celebration of those who strive to improve the educational landscape for future generations, reinforcing the belief that education opens doors to freedom and opportunity for all.
