MCHD

The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) is a public health organization serving residents of Mobile County, Alabama. With a legacy dating to 1816, it works to help the community be well, get well, and stay well through health services, education, and outreach. Its programs include vaccines and immunizations, disease control, environmental health, community health, emergency preparedness, vector services, family health, and WIC, a federally funded nutrition education program for eligible women, infants, and children.

MCHD also provides access to vital records, including birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. Its environmental health specialists inspect and permit restaurants and other food establishments, as well as facilities such as schools, daycares, hotels, pools, and body art businesses. The free My MCHD Health Check app lets users view restaurant inspection scores. Through its Healthy Communities project, the department evaluates programs and policies, builds partnerships, uses data to guide action, and supports underserved areas with education and outreach. MCHD also shares health information, resources, news, and community events.
