MCMCFC

The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council (MCMCFC) is an organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for the 34 county skilled nursing facilities in Michigan. These facilities, known as Medical Care Facilities (MCFs), provide essential services to citizens in all of Michigan's 83 counties, regardless of their ability to pay for care. MCFs serve as the safety net for vulnerable individuals who have no means to pay for skilled nursing facility care.

They also accommodate high-needs citizens who may be rejected by other skilled nursing facilities. Currently, the 34 MCFs in Michigan have a total of 5,129 beds, with this number subject to change as new facilities are built or existing ones expand. One of the notable features of MCFs is their commitment to providing excellent care.

In fact, seven MCFs have been recognized for outstanding resident and employee satisfaction, receiving the Excellence in Action award from NRC Health. Additionally, more than 70 percent of MCFs receive a 4- or 5-star rating on the official government website, highlighting their dedication to quality. MCFs offer a wide range of services, including child care, adult day care, computer classes, end-of-life programs, unique meal services, and rehabilitative therapy.

These facilities also prioritize staff satisfaction, offering higher wages and better benefits than other nursing homes, resulting in lower staff turnover rates. The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council is devoted to advocating for the needs of MCFs and ensuring that they continue to provide excellent care to residents.
