About MCRG
Calcutta Research Group (CRG) is a renowned brand that has evolved from a facilitating group supporting the peace movement in West Bengal. Initially known as Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group, it has established itself as a platform for policy discussions and analysis on democracy, human rights, peace, and justice. With a diverse team of researchers, trade unionists, feminists, academics, journalists, and lawyers, CRG has become a well-known name in the field of research, dialogues, and advocacy.
CRG specializes in a wide range of research areas such as autonomy, human rights, women's dignity, forced displacement and migration, peace and conflict resolution, citizenship, and border conflicts. It has also developed a strong network of scholars, activists, and institutions in the East and Northeast regions of India.
One of the notable initiatives by CRG is the South Asia Network for Communication, Displacement, and Migration, supported by Deutsche Welle Akademie. This network aims to facilitate greater representation of refugees and displaced persons in media through sharing of work and collaborations.
Furthermore, CRG collaborates with 360info, an open-access global information agency hosted by Monash University, Australia. This collaboration brings a series of special reports on the changing face of migration, providing critical insights into environment, geopolitics, mental health, conflicts, war, and displacement.
The Calcutta Research Group also hosts the esteemed journals Refugee Watch and Refugee Watch Online. These platforms offer a space for debate on refugees, forced migration, displacement, statelessness, and pertinent human rights issues.
In addition to its research and publications, CRG organizes conferences, workshops, and public lectures, addressing topics like COVID-19 and migrant workers, forced migration studies, and cartographic challenges.
Experience the impact of research, dialogue, and advocacy with Calcutta Research Group as they strive to make a difference in society through their comprehensive work on migration, human rights, and social justice.
