MDGFund

The Joint SDG Fund, based in New York, NY, is an international cooperation mechanism that works towards accelerating progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) worldwide. Established in 2006 with a generous contribution of €528 million Euros ($US710M) from the Spanish Government to the United Nations system, the fund supports national governments, local authorities, and citizen organizations in their efforts to tackle poverty and inequality. The Joint SDG Fund offers various programs and services to address important societal issues.

These include initiatives focused on children, food security, and nutrition, gender equality and women's empowerment, environment and climate change, youth, employment, and migration, democratic economic governance, development, and the private sector, as well as conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The fund also works towards protecting and enhancing cultural rights and political participation. The SDG Fund builds on the experience and lessons learned from the MDG Achievement Fund and is specifically dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This fund aims to create a sustainable world where environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic development are equally valued. With the support of the government of Spain, 27 UN agencies, and various local and national governments, civil society organizations, and citizens themselves, the fund has already impacted the lives of 9 million people across the globe.
