MDS Group

Czech MDS Group is a Czech association of medical experts focused on myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It originated from the MDS working section of the Czech Society of Hematology and brings together specialists involved in diagnosis, treatment, research, and education. The group works to strengthen hematologists’ expertise and improve healthcare for people with MDS.

A central initiative is its clinical registry of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes. The registry collects and evaluates epidemiological and clinical information, with more detailed laboratory and cytogenetic data gathered for selected patient groups, alongside information from research projects and clinical studies. Most hematology centers in the Czech Republic participate, and the project is overseen by the group’s scientific council.

The organization’s website provides resources for both patients and professionals, including information about MDS and CMML classifications, IPSS and IPSS-R scoring systems, an IPSS-R calculator, and downloadable patient brochures. It also shares details about MDS centers, current studies, events, registry participation, and relevant patient organizations. It is based in Prague.
