Mdzananda

Mdzananda Animal Clinic is a veterinary council-registered nonprofit organisation serving pets and their owners in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa. Its story began with a local community member, Mr Joe, who helped neighbours’ animals by feeding and bathing them. Today, the clinic provides accessible veterinary care through consultations, hospitalisation, surgery, preventive treatments and sterilisation services. Its work also includes mobile clinics, an animal ambulance, adoption of homeless animals, cruelty investigations and humane education for the community.

From July 2024 to June 2025, Mdzananda reported helping 21,623 pets through its veterinary services. During that period, it provided 46,669 vaccinations, deworming and tick and flea treatments, performed 2,161 operations and sterilised 3,092 animals. The clinic’s consulting rooms, hospital, mobile service and ambulance extend care to pets across the community. It also visited and educated 2,335 community members on responsible pet care, and facilitated 124 adoptions. Mdzananda invites the public to support its work through donations and other forms of involvement.
