Measurement Lab (M-Lab) is a nonprofit, open-source project that supports transparent, verifiable measurement of Internet performance worldwide. Led by teams based at Superbloom and Google, Inc., and developed with research, industry, and public-interest partners, M-Lab provides a global measurement platform and makes its collected data openly accessible. Its mission is to measure the Internet, preserve the resulting data, and make them universally accessible and useful.
M-Lab offers Internet measurement tests, including its NDT speed test, along with tools, documentation, and resources for using and troubleshooting measurements. Its open-source tools and openly available datasets allow researchers, operators, policymakers, and the public to examine network performance and scrutinize the methods behind the results. The organization also publishes research, papers, presentations, and regulatory filings, and shares updates through its blog and learning resources.
M-Lab welcomes scientific collaboration and community participation, offering ways to contribute, developer opportunities, and forums for discussion. As a fiscally sponsored project of Superbloom, it is supported by contributors and partners around the world.
