About MECC
MECC, or the Middle East Council of Churches, is a fellowship of Churches in the Middle East region. Founded in 1974, MECC aims to unify visions, perspectives, and attitudes among Eastern churches, particularly regarding Christian presence and witness in the Middle East and Muslim-Christian relations. Serving as a bridge, MECC brings together Eastern Christians to foster unity, remove prejudices, and facilitate joint prayers, reflections, and actions.
It also strives to build connections between Christians and people of other religions, emphasizing dialogue, friendship, and peace. Additionally, MECC acts as a mediator between Middle East and Western churches, encouraging collaboration and fostering ties between Christians across different regions. From its formation, MECC has played a vital role in the development and spread of Christianity in the East, continuing to bear witness to God in the face of challenges.
Through its ecumenical mission, MECC works to consolidate relations among regional Churches and promote theological dialogue. Words: 170
