About Memoria Technica | Seattle WA
Memoria Technica is an independent horological workshop based near Seattle, Washington, founded and led by artist and horologist Brittany Nicole Cox. It provides conservation and restoration for a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical objects, including automata, singing birds, mechanical music pieces, complicated clocks and watches, and electro-mechanical media. Treatment can range from an initial assessment and stabilization to in-depth conservation and analysis, with services tailored to the object and its needs.
The workshop works with private individuals, institutions, government agencies, auction houses, and other clients. Its work also includes maintaining public clocks, restoring family heirlooms, and creating bespoke objects. Custom offerings include guilloché, or engine turning, and commissions for magicians.
Memoria Technica shares horological knowledge through classes, lectures, and private tuition. Classes focus particularly on engine turning and welcome a range of skill levels; Brittany Nicole Cox teaches or hosts them, sometimes alongside invited specialists. The workshop is not open to the public, and appointments can be arranged by email
