Mechtelien van Alkemade is an interior design and project management practice led by designer Mechtelien van Alkemade. Drawing on years of experience and inspiration gained while living in London, she creates distinctive interiors that go beyond conventional Dutch styles. Her work can range from modern, classical and colourful to bold and exuberant or cool and minimalist, with each home shaped around its owners’ personalities. Art and thoughtfully curated personal belongings are central to creating spaces that feel individual and meaningful.

The practice offers interior design for clients seeking a particular look and atmosphere, including the use of wallpapers and decorative coverings to create unusual, characterful spaces and an internationally minded aesthetic. Project management is also a key service. Mechtelien oversees building work with care and efficiency, helping projects run smoothly and reducing unexpected complications. Clients who lack the time or expertise to manage the process can rely on her to act on their behalf. Her approach aims to deliver the desired style within the client’s budget and timeframe.
