Medioevo Fossatano

Medioevo Fossatano is an association founded in 2002 to share and promote the medieval history of Fossato di Vico, an ancient settlement in Umbria whose origins date to the Byzantine era. Through cultural events, research and educational activities, the association helps residents and visitors explore the town’s past, traditions and artistic heritage.

Its main initiative is the annual Festa degli Statuti, held in May and organised around the town’s municipal statutes, formally published in 1386 and in force for about five centuries. During the festival, the historic centre, its streets, squares and taverns evoke life in the late Middle Ages. The association also takes part in gatherings and competitions with its historical archers and drummers, who act as ambassadors for Fossato di Vico and its territory.

Other activities include conferences, school lessons and projects that highlight local history and food traditions. The association also supports related cultural offerings, including exhibitions, photography contests and historical publications, and provides visitors with information about local dining and accommodation.
