Mediterranea Saving Humans is a committed humanitarian organization founded in the summer of 2018 in response to the tragic loss of lives in the Mediterranean Sea. The organization emerged from a coalition of individuals and community groups dedicated to providing assistance to those in need, particularly focusing on rescuing vulnerable migrants and civilians impacted by conflicts. They operate the Mare Jonio, the first and only Italian-flagged civil rescue ship, which began its monitoring and rescue missions shortly after the Lampedusa tragedy.

Mediterranea extends its support beyond maritime rescues; it actively engages in initiatives on land, with over 40 dedicated crews operating across Italy, Europe, and the United States. These teams work collaboratively with local movements advocating for fundamental human rights. Through donations and community involvement, Mediterranea empowers individuals to actively participate in humanitarian missions and to promote a culture of acceptance and solidarity.
