Meer Armslag

Meer Armslag is a Dutch foundation dedicated to supporting swimmers with disabilities. Founded on 8 June 2006 by Lenie van der Meer, the organization works to help selected swimmers pursue their sport and promotes greater participation in swimming. Its activities include supporting these swimmers and organizing the Lenie van der Meer Bokaal, an annual swimming competition for people with disabilities. The event brings able-bodied and para-swimmers together for a day centered on sport, determination and enjoyment, and has become a recurring highlight for the swimming community.

Meer Armslag also draws attention to practical improvements that make swimming more accessible. In 2026, a new mobile pool lift was unveiled at De Waterlelie swimming pool, helping visitors with disabilities access the pool more easily. Through its support for swimmers, its annual competition and its interest in accessibility, the foundation contributes to opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in swimming. The organization shares updates about its swimmers, events and initiatives through its website and welcomes inquiries through its Aalsmeer-based secretariat.
