Meerschweinchenstation Bad Dürrheim

Meerschweinchenstation Bad Dürrheim is a private rescue and foster station dedicated to guinea pigs in need. Operating independently since May 2019, it builds on foster-care experience dating back to 2010 and more than 25 years of keeping guinea pigs. The station welcomes animals whose owners can no longer care for them, including guinea pigs from difficult circumstances, and provides a safe place while seeking suitable new homes.

Its services include guidance on guinea pig care, rehoming and surrender arrangements, and holiday boarding. The foster home can usually accommodate around 15 animals in addition to its own group, and can consider extra places in urgent cases. It also works to find compatible companions for guinea pigs that have been living alone, with a temporary stay available when needed. Holiday care costs €2.50 per animal per day, or €3 for animals requiring medication.

The station promotes social housing, adequate space, suitable food and well-structured enclosures, and offers information and agreements to support responsible placement and care.
