Mehrangarh

Mehrangarh Museum Trust is India's premier cultural institution and center of excellence, established in 1972 by H. H. Maharaja Gaj Singhji. Its aim is to bring the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort to life for visitors. Today, Mehrangarh Museum holds great significance as it showcases the artistic and cultural history of central Rajasthan, Marwar-Jodhpur, which was ruled by the Rathore dynasty. The museum proudly displays one of the most remarkable collections of fine and applied arts from the Mughal period, reflecting the close ties between the Rathore rulers and the Mughal Emperors.

Beyond the museum, Mehrangarh Museum Trust is also actively involved in conservation and restoration projects. They adopt a Conservation Master Plan and lead by example, providing momentum to the conservation and restoration movement in Rajasthan and all of India. The trust is dedicated to research and publication, housing a collection of manuscripts and encouraging works in areas like history and art history. Additionally, the trust promotes cultural activities such as classical Indian and folk music concerts, collaborating with local music lovers associations to organize festivals throughout the year. With over a million visitors annually, Mehrangarh Museum remains a custodian of age-old traditions and a proud recipient of UNESCO's Asia-Pacific Award in Architectural Conservation and Cultural Heritage.
