Melanomaday

MelanomaDay is an Italian nonprofit volunteer association dedicated to raising awareness of melanoma and other skin cancers and promoting prevention. Founded by Gianluca Pistore in memory of his father, Silvio, who died from melanoma, the organization grew from a public education and prevention initiative into a national event, with local associations, institutions, medical professionals and volunteers taking part. It has received support from dermatology organizations including SIDeMaST, ADOI and IMI.

MelanomaDay shares information about melanoma, its risk factors, warning signs, diagnosis, stages and treatments, as well as other skin cancers. Its activities include public awareness campaigns, conferences and educational events, free dermatological screening initiatives, and scholarships for doctors and scientists. The association also provides resources to help people understand skin checks and the importance of early diagnosis. Its reported results include 140 dermatological screenings, 70 suspicious lesions identified, 22 melanomas detected, 10 scholarships awarded and eight conferences promoted. Supporters can contribute through donations or Italy’s 5x1000 tax designation, helping fund outreach and prevention activities.
