MEL is the largest paper recycling and cardboard production company in Greece and one of the largest in Southeastern Europe. Specializing in the design, production, and trading of recycled packaging cardboard, MEL utilizes exclusively recyclable paper as its raw material. Established in 1967 as one of the most modern factories of its time, MEL became a state-owned company in 1984.

Following a public tender in 1998, it transitioned back into the private sector and joined the multinational PAK GROUP in 2012, ranking among the top three cardboard manufacturers in Europe. With continuous investments in the millions of euros, MEL has become one of the largest carton manufacturers in Europe, producing 120,000 tons of cardboard annually, a significant portion of which is exported worldwide. Additionally, as the country's largest recycler, MEL recycles nearly 50% of the collected paper nationally.

Its advanced and environmentally friendly production process ensures a clear green environmental footprint, benefiting both the environment and society. Employing over 210 specialized staff members, MEL is one of the largest employers in the Central Macedonia region, making a significant social impact.
