Memória da Eletricidade

Memória da Eletricidade is a Brazilian organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the country’s electric power sector. Founded in 1986, it safeguards a collection of more than 60,000 historical documents, including personal and institutional archives, photographs, audiovisual materials, publications, oral histories, and other records. Visitors can explore the collection through its online catalog, digital documents, virtual exhibitions, and resources covering people, organizations, power plants, and the development of electricity in Brazil.

The organization also provides professional services in corporate library management, archival collection management, document management, oral history, and editorial projects. Its special projects include exhibitions, research initiatives, and programs that make the sector’s heritage accessible to wider audiences. Through articles, interviews, news, events, and educational content, Memória da Eletricidade connects historical records with contemporary discussions about energy. Its work supports the preservation of collective memory and encourages public understanding of the people, infrastructure, and events that have shaped Brazil’s electric power sector.
