MemTest86

MemTest86 is PassMark Software’s memory diagnostics tool for x86 and ARM computers, designed to help users identify faulty RAM or rule memory out as a cause of system instability. The original standalone edition is free and runs by booting from a USB flash drive, so testing does not require an installed operating system. Its comprehensive test patterns and 14 algorithms include SIMD, row hammer and DMA tests, with support for a range of memory types, including DDR2 through DDR5, ECC and newer modules. Features include UEFI and secure boot support, network PXE deployment, customizable reports, error analysis, multilingual operation and a graphical interface.

MemTest86 is available in Free, Pro and Site editions. Pro adds customizable reporting and configuration-file automation, while Site includes Pro features and scalable LAN deployment through PXE boot. The site also presents PassMark’s wider hardware-testing and diagnostic offerings, including PerformanceTest benchmarking software, BurnInTest reliability and load testing, a PC Test Kit and a bootable USB drive containing multiple software titles.
