Mending Strides Ranch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Mint Hill, North Carolina, offering trauma-focused equine-assisted services and sanctuary for rescued horses. Founded in 2019 by Maria Hogge, the ranch brings people and horses together in a peaceful, nature-filled setting to support well-being and help individuals navigate trauma, abuse, anxiety, stress, and other emotional challenges.
Its programs use guided, experiential activities with horses to encourage confidence, communication, trust, emotional regulation, self-acceptance, and healthier relationships. Offerings include therapy and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, as well as specialized programs such as Growing Strides, Confident Strides, Courageous Strides for Veterans, Teen Topics, and Empowered Strides summer camp for girls ages 10–14. The ranch also hosts activities and gatherings, including Hanging With the Herd, caregiver wellness sessions, Veterans meetups, and teen meetups. Some programs are free, and horse experience is not always required.
Mending Strides Ranch also welcomes individual and corporate volunteers, offers opportunities to help care for horses, and accepts donations to support its programs and rescued therapy horses.
