Menschen für Frauen e. V. is a German nonprofit organization dedicated to improving women’s health through medical cooperation between Germany and Burkina Faso.
Founded in 2008, it works with local partners to strengthen maternal and reproductive healthcare while promoting lasting, locally managed solutions. Since 2000, the organization has supported visits by doctors and midwives to Burkina Faso, where teams operate on women with obstetric fistulas and provide training for midwives. In Ouagadougou, it has helped build a health centre that includes a clinic and maternity unit; the clinic has operated since 2017, and the maternity unit welcomed its first births in October 2024.
A Burkinabè partner association, ABMF, coordinates work on the ground, and the project’s facilities have been handed over to Burkina Faso’s health ministry for operation and staffing. The organization also promotes professional and cultural exchange through its German-African gynecology network, and shares information through talks, student seminars, books and publications. Donations support ongoing construction and improvements to care for women and families
