The Mental State of the World Report is an annual publication by Sapien Labs examining trends in mind health and wellbeing across the internet-enabled world. It presents research on how people’s mental functioning varies across countries and generations, alongside analysis of factors that may shape those trends. The report draws on the Global Mind Project and, for its 2024 findings, combines data collected in 2023 and 2024 from one million participants across 82 countries.
Its measure of mind health is the Mental Health Quotient (MHQ), an aggregate assessment of 47 aspects of mental function across six dimensions: Mood & Outlook, Social Self, Adaptability & Resilience, Drive & Motivation, Cognition, and Mind-Body Connection. Readers can access the current and previous reports, download data tables, and explore data graphs. Publications are available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, and Arabic for the latest report.
