About Merhem Derneği
Merhem Derneği is a humanitarian aid association founded in 1997, working to support people in need in Türkiye and communities across Africa and Asia. Its programs focus on delivering practical assistance through donations and charitable projects. The association organizes kurban (sacrificial animal) donations, including offerings such as adak, akika and şükür kurban, and provides meals, food aid, clothing and clean-water projects. Its listed activities also include assistance for Palestine and Gaza. Donors can select a project and contribution through the organization’s website.
In Türkiye, Merhem Derneği operates a soup kitchen in Ümraniye, opened in the name of Şehit Selçuk Paker, which it says serves hot meals to 150 people daily. Its water-well work includes a stated goal of building 100,000 wells over five years to help address water needs in drought-affected parts of Africa. The organization also shares project updates, frequently asked questions and donation information online, and provides contact details for supporters seeking further information.
