Mermaid Protector is a sustainable water sports and outdoor apparel brand created as an environmentally friendly alternative to neoprene. The company, operated by MerPro GmbH in Konstanz, Germany, was founded by Izabella Meyer, whose concern about toxic neoprene and love for the oceans inspired the brand. Its garments are made from recycled polyester produced from recovered PET bottles, helping reduce textile waste and keep plastic from landfills. Mermaid Protector states that its apparel is made entirely from recycled materials and can be recycled again without losing quality.
The collection includes neoprene-free wetsuits, long johns, jackets, swimwear, bags and accessories, alongside limited-edition products and gift cards. Its three-layer technical fabric is designed to protect wearers from wind, cold and sun. The garments are washable at 30°C without fabric softener, quick-drying and hypoallergenic. Customers can browse and purchase products through the online store, while distributors can access product information and the brand’s news. Mermaid Protector’s philosophy encourages surfers, sailors, swimmers, divers and other nature lovers to help protect the shared ecosystem.
