Merovingian Dynasty

The Order of the Merovingian Dynasty (OMD) is a historical and genealogical organization founded in September 2004 by 23 members with expertise in genealogy. It was established to honor the heritage of the Merovingian kings, an early Frankish dynasty associated with Mérovée, who governed the Salic Franks from 448 to 457. The Order focuses on the Merovingian period as an important era for developing historically grounded genealogies.

OMD offers members opportunities to explore royal lineages, historical pedigrees, and potential connections between the Merovingian dynasty and later figures, including Charlemagne. Its activities include historical research, exploration, excavation, publications, and the study of antiquities, tombs, and relics. The organization also shares insights into the origins and history of the dynasty and highlights relics preserved in museums.

Membership provides access to historical and genealogical information, while the Order’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C., brings members together for presentations, speeches, organizational business, a luncheon, and an awards ceremony. The OMD also recognizes members through scholarships and awards.
