About METAR and TAF
METAR & TAF 3D is an aviation weather service that helps pilots and other users interpret current conditions and forecasts at airports worldwide. Its interactive live map covers more than 4,000 reporting airports, with station markers showing flight categories based on ceiling and visibility. Select an airport to view its raw METAR and TAF alongside plain-language decoding, runway headwind and crosswind components, and forecast details.
The service brings aviation weather data together in a 7-day meteogram, which can extend to 14 days, and a 3D profile of cloud layers. Forecasts use Kalynda, a calibrated blend of ECMWF, GFS, ICON, GEM, Météo-France and UK Met Office model runs, weighted against live observations. Forecast accuracy is measured against subsequent observations, with error figures provided by forecast horizon.
Additional map features include weather animation, rain radar, lightning, SIGMET and AIRMET information, and airspace layers. METAR & TAF 3D also offers pilot guides explaining aviation weather reports and flight categories, plus mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.
