Metemgee

Metemgee is a brand created by Althea Brown, a Guyanese American self-taught cook and Whole30 certified coach. Metemgee offers a variety of products and services centered around Caribbean and Guyanese cuisine. At the heart of Metemgee are the delicious and authentic recipes that Althea shares on her website.

Whether you're looking for Whole30, Guyanese, gluten-free, vegan, or instant pot recipes, Metemgee has you covered. Althea's goal is to make cooking easy and accessible for everyone, using ingredients that can be found at local grocery stores or online. Growing up in Guyana with traditional dishes prepared by her family, Althea developed a deep appreciation for the flavors and comfort that Guyanese food brings.

Her signature dish, metemgee, is a hearty soup made with root vegetables in a coconut milk broth. Inspired by her strong and talented family, Althea began sharing her recipes online to help other Guyanese home cooks recreate their favorite dishes with ease. Metemgee embodies the cultural richness and diversity of Guyanese and Caribbean cuisine, influenced by the country's history of British colonization and the blending of various ethnic groups.

Althea also offers paleo versions of some recipes and embraces a paleo-ish lifestyle herself. Through her own experience with Whole30, she discovered her sensitivity to gluten and advocates for the importance of personalized diets and food freedom. With Metemgee, Althea invites you to embark on a culinary journey that celebrates the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean while embracing your own unique dietary needs.

Whether you're a seasoned home cook or just starting out, Metemgee has something for everyone, bringing the warmth and joy of Guyanese cuisine straight to your kitchen
