Welcome to the Métis National Council, where our mission is to collaborate across the Métis homeland to fulfill the vision of Louis Riel. Representing the Métis Nation at both national and international levels, we receive our mandate from our democratically elected governments in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and British Columbia. The Métis emerged as a distinct Indigenous people during the late 18th century and have a rich history rooted in the fur trade era.

Our Homeland encompasses the Prairie Provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, as well as parts of Ontario, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and the northern United States. We are committed to preserving our unique culture, traditions, language (Michif), and way of life. Our work spans various areas, including environment, justice, health, education, economic development, and more.
