Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI) is a vital organization dedicated to healing communities in Chicago grappling with high levels of gun violence. As part of Metropolitan Family Services, MPI convenes community-based organizations to deliver impactful trauma-informed care and community violence intervention (CVI) strategies. Their multifaceted services include the Metropolitan Peace Academy, which professionalizes CVI by offering intensive training to outreach workers, and the Communities Partnering 4 Peace initiative that employs a restorative, hyperlocal approach to violence reduction.

MPI also extends support through behavioral health initiatives, workforce development, legal aid, and comprehensive outreach services. By fostering collaborations with various stakeholders, MPI aims to enhance community resilience and safety. Their commitment is exemplified through events such as the South Side Strong Summit and training programs that empower professionals in Michigan and beyond to implement effective strategies for healing communities. Through their dedicated efforts, Metropolitan Peace Initiatives stands as a beacon of hope for those affected by violence, working tirelessly to foster safer neighborhoods and promote healing.
