MFR Hippique de Pouancé is a private, state-contracted Maison Familiale Rurale in Ombrée d’Anjou, France, dedicated to preparing young people for careers in the equine sector. With more than 60 years of activity, the association combines professional education with personal development, citizenship and practical learning. Its work-based learning approach alternates periods at school with placements in businesses, supported by families, employers and a teaching team attentive to each learner.
The school offers five training pathways, from a 4th–3rd year programme introducing students to different trades to vocational qualifications in racehorse riding and training, horse care, and agriculture with an equine focus. Students can also progress through a professional baccalaureate in equine and horse-business management, beginning with a production-focused second year. Courses cover practical skills such as horse care, stable management, agricultural techniques and the training and management of racehorses.
All learners are boarders, making residential life an integral part of the educational experience.
