About M&G NSW
Museums & Galleries of NSW (M&G NSW) is dedicated to helping small-medium museums, galleries, and Aboriginal cultural centers in NSW create exciting experiences for visitors and thriving local communities. Although they don't run these institutions themselves, they deeply care about those who do. M&G NSW offers a range of programs and services to support their partner organizations.
One of their key programs is the Museums Standards Program, which assists small and volunteer-run museums in maintaining their collections and interpretive displays according to Australian standards and industry best practices. They also facilitate the Museum Advisor Program, connecting museum professionals with institutions in need of expertise, whether it's improving visitor experiences or cataloging collections. M&G NSW is committed to cultural engagement and participation and works closely with the Aboriginal Reference Committee and Create NSW to support Aboriginal cultural development projects.
They also coordinate and assist in coordinating traveling exhibitions through their role as the NSW member of NETS (National Exhibition Touring Support). In addition to program delivery and professional development, M&G NSW provides small grant funding, supports Reconciliation Action Plans, and organizes conferences and seminars. They also celebrate excellence and innovation across the sector through the annual IMAGinE Awards.
At M&G NSW, their values revolve around respect for Aboriginal people and cultural ownership, relevance to contemporary cultures and needs, collaboration, inclusivity, and integrity. Their purpose is to support small to medium galleries, museums, and Aboriginal cultural centers in NSW to maximize their impact and help create strong and thriving local communities. M&G NSW's work is guided by a strategic plan and a code of conduct that ensures ethical decision-making and maintains the effectiveness of the organization.
They also have a volunteer policy and handbook to provide a secure and respectful work environment for their volunteers. As a not-for-profit organization, M&G NSW receives core funding from the NSW Government through Create NSW. Their offices are located at The Arts Exchange in The Rocks, Sydney.
By subscribing to their newsletter, you can stay informed about new job opportunities, industry updates, funding opportunities, and more. M&G NSW acknowledges and respects the Gadigal and other Traditional Custodians of the lands on which they operate, recognizing their ongoing connections to land, place, waters, and community
