MiBTec is a high-level research center founded in 2018 at the University of Milano Bicocca. It brings together academics from the humanities and engineering fields who have a genuine interest in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies. These immersive technologies have been used for several years, but recent advancements in computational power, storage, graphics processing, and high-resolution displays have overcome some of the challenges associated with their widespread use.

MiBTec focuses on cutting-edge tools for technological design, catering to professionals in the field who seek innovative solutions for new technology ideation, design, and theoretical and applied research in human factors in Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Environments. The center comprises cognitive scientists, psychologists, neuroscientists, engineers, linguists, and technologists, including researchers and students. They believe that a serious and multidisciplinary scientific approach will lead to significant advancements in technology and knowledge that will shape our future lives
