Michael Colpitts Paintings

Michael Colpitts Paintings presents the work of Sedona, Arizona, fine artist Michael Colpitts, whose abstract paintings reflect his travels and meditation practices. Working in mixed media, he combines materials such as gesso, paper, fabric, and charcoal to build richly textured compositions. Thick oil colors, acrylic washes, and transparent oil washes give the paintings their distinctive luminous quality, with large, vibrant works among the pieces featured.

Michael also works in ceramics with his wife, Sumati Colpitts, an accomplished ceramic sculptor. Her handmade animal sculptures, including elephants, beavers, and bunnies, are known for expressive character, tactile textures, and a sense of movement. Together, the couple create one-of-a-kind ceramic works, which can also be explored through their Artful Ceramics website.

Their artwork is available through galleries in Arizona, including Raku Gallery in Jerome and Thunderbird Artists Gallery in Carefree; Sumati’s sculptures are also shown at other regional galleries. Visitors can arrange a private tour of Michael’s Sedona home studio, and prospective buyers may contact him for information or photographs of available work within their price range.
