Michele Karas is a poet, essayist, editor, and copywriter from San Diego, California, now based in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her poems and prose have appeared or are forthcoming in publications including Mid-American Review, Northern Virginia Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Narrative, and Thrush. Her work has earned recognition from literary conferences and organizations, including the Jerome Lowell Dejur Award in Poetry and two Bridging the Gap Nonfiction Prizes.
A former actor and longtime book publishing professional, Karas has created 360 marketing campaigns for bestselling authors such as Min Jin Lee, Donna Tartt, David Foster Wallace, David Sedaris, and Malcolm Gladwell. Her services include copywriting and messaging, drawing on her experience in publishing and communications; she currently writes messaging for a global television network.
