The Michiana Walleye Association (MWA) is a family-focused organization dedicated to walleye fishing, conservation, and community involvement in the Michiana area. Officially established in 1993, it began with 19 members and a mission to engage future generations in conservation programs, waterway management, and fishing skills. The associationโs early goal was to help develop the St. Joseph River in Indiana into a high-quality walleye fishery serving St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties.
MWA organizes monthly meetings, fishing tournaments, fundraisers, and community events. Its club grounds in Mishawaka provide space for local groups and elementary school field trips, as well as meeting and outdoor camping opportunities for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The association also raises funds each year for a scholarship supporting an area college student majoring in wildlife management.
Guided by its pledge to preserve waterways and fish, educate future generations, and protect these resources for years to come, MWA brings families and the community together around fishing and conservation.
