Michigan Writers is a vibrant community organization dedicated to supporting writers across all ages, skill levels, and genres in Michigan's Great Lakes region. Founded in 2001 by a passionate group of Traverse City writers, Michigan Writers fosters a creative atmosphere that encourages networking, education, and publication opportunities. The organization hosts a variety of events, including potluck gatherings, workshops, and critique groups, allowing members to connect and refine their skills.

At the heart of its operations is Dunes Review, a literary journal that showcases local talent, alongside the MW Cooperative Press, which publishes member chapbooks. The organization also sponsors "Michigan Writers On the Air" on Interlochen Public Radio, featuring engaging interviews with both local and visiting authors.
