About Mickey Strand
Mickey Strand Photography, helmed by retired Navy Chief Photographer Mickey Strand, blends deep-rooted passion with professional expertise in portrait and product photography. With over 24 years of military service and a distinguished background, Mickey draws inspiration from his beginnings in his parents' basement darkroom in Racine, Wisconsin. His extensive experience includes teaching at the Defense Information School and capturing iconic images aboard multiple naval vessels.
Mickey's noteworthy projects include the poignant World War II Veteran’s Portrait Series, which celebrates the stories of veterans through stunning exhibitions, and the Beyond the Cut Portrait project, which offers an authentic look at the biker community, combating stereotypes with powerful portraits. Additionally, he leads the Help-Portrait San Diego initiative, providing complimentary portrait sessions to underserved individuals, particularly veterans.
As an educator, Mickey shares his knowledge through classes at Maine Media Workshops and West Palm Beach Photo Centre. With a dedication to storytelling through visuals, Mickey Strand Photography is a beacon of artistry and community engagement.
